  1. Why doesn't my password work?

Password failures usually occur for one of three reasons:

  2. What should do my passwords and ID's look like?

Your website subscriber pages ID will look like this: powe4566 (four letters of last name, 4 digits). Please note that your website password will NEVER include capital letters, but will always be lower case. This is VERY important.

Your website subscriber password will look like this: 678wer98 (all random; three digits, three lowercase letters, two digits) .

If I created your Forum ID, it will look like this: BenP59 (First name, last initial, two random digits). Otherwise, it will be whatever you submitted -- but case matters.

If I created your Forum ID and sent it to you with your subscriber ID, your password will be the SAME for both forum and website subscriber pages. Otherwise, it will be whatever was mailed to you by the forum software registration program.

PS: Please don't clutter my website error files, attempting to use any of the ID's or passwords above. None of them work!

  3. Why can't my password and user ID be the same for the Forum and the subscriber pages?

Because I don't know how to do that, don't have time to learn, and can't yet afford to hire a programmer who does.

  4. Isn't there an easier way?

Maybe. Windows95 and Windows98 will 'remember' your login password for the PoolSolutions subscriber pages . . . if you let it. And, the DCForum software will usually remember your Forum login . . . again, if you let it.

But, sometimes these features don't work, and sometimes they work incorrectly. I can't help you troubleshoot Windows -- I have enough trouble with Microsoft software on my own.

I can make a couple of suggestions, though.

If Windows is not remembering your password correctly -- this does NOT apply to the Forum -- go to Control Panel, and select the Password icon. Don't do anything to the Windows passwords! Click on the "other" button, and if there is a password for PoolSolutions, DELETE it. Then, go back to the PoolSolutions' subscriber pages, and attempt to enter. The password box should pop up. Check the "remember this password" box, if present. Then, carefully enter your password and ID, and click enter. If a box pops up asking if you want Windows to remember the password, answer "yes".

If the DCForum software is not remembering your password correctly, turn cookies ON. (I recommend Cookie Pal, so you can allow only those cookies you need.) Then enter the Forum, and login, but check the "remember your password" box. If you've done this before, find your cookie file (I have no idea where it is on your computer) and delete all cookies from PoolSolutions, and then try again.
