PoolLetter Problems

By far, the most common problem is submission of an incomplete or incorrect email address.

AOLer's: your internet email address is your screen name, but with @aol.com appended, and with all spaces removed. If your screen name is 'John Henry7', your internet email address is '[email protected]'. If you list your email address as 'John Henry7', your PoolLetter will never arrive. (And, you won't get email from anyone else whose not using AOL!)

And, regardless of how you connect to the Internet, you MUST type your email address letter-perfect. Email is not like horseshoes: close doesn't count! If your email address is '[email protected]', '[email protected]' won't get there: you might as well have typed '[email protected]'.

Also, you must keep your .com's, .net's and .org's straight. If your ISP is pacbell.net (PacBell's ISP site), but you list your email as pacbell.com (PacBell's corporate site), I'll just get a message from PacBell saying that there is no such address.

Another common problem is spam blocking. Blocking a specific spammer is not a problem. But some of you, especially on AOL, have established blocking against all internet email. If you have done so, you must unblock mail originating at BOTH 'poolsolutions.com' and at 'cdc.net' (my local ISP) -- if you want to receive the PoolLetter.
